So, let us introduce today’s spotlight, Barbara Silva. She is a model, an influencer, and a very famous yoga instructor. The purpose of getting Barbara on-board was to showcase talents that are hard to find and provide people with the motivation to start hard journeys!

So, Barbara! Finally, we have you here. Could you tell us how you went from working in sales to becoming a model?

“Happy to be here! You’ve heard right. I’d always wanted to be a model, but it wasn’t until I was working in sales that I decided to take it seriously. A modeling agency spotted me at a trade exhibition and asked me about signing with them. I decided to take a chance and sign with them, and thus my modeling career began.”

That’s actually really inspiring and an incredible thing. Could you tell us about the difficulties you had when establishing your modeling career?

“Building a modeling career is difficult, especially when you’re just starting out. There is a lot of competition, and getting recognized and booked for jobs can be difficult. As a new model, I had to learn the ins and outs of the profession as well as how to work with photographers, agents, and clients. As modeling requires a specific degree of fitness and beauty, I also had to learn how to take care of my body and maintain a healthy lifestyle.”

Life is hard sometimes, and managing more than one profession can get even harder. How do you mix your modeling profession with your yoga practice?

“Balancing two occupations can be difficult, but yoga helps me keep grounded and centered during these times. I plan my modeling gigs around my yoga teaching schedule to ensure that I have time for both. I also make it a point to take breaks when necessary and to prioritize self-care and self-love.”

Could you tell us about your modeling method and what distinguishes you from other models?

“My modeling strategy is to stay true to myself and my ideals. I feel that everyone is unique and attractive in their own way, and I attempt to express that via my modeling. I don’t believe in conforming to society’s beauty standards or pretending to be someone I’m not. Instead, I try to embrace my innate characteristics and bring my unique personality and enthusiasm to each position.”

Barbara also added: “I want to question established beauty standards and empower individuals to embrace their own distinct beauty and sense of style. I intend to continue cultivating ties with clients and industry professionals, as well as to collaborate with brands that share my values and vision. I also intend to continue studying and honing my talents and techniques, as well as to branch out into new fields of modeling, such as runway and editorial.”

That’s nice to hear. Next, would you tell us about a particularly memorable or difficult modeling experience?

One of my most memorable modeling experiences was filming a campaign for a sustainable fashion business. It was a fantastic pleasure to be able to work in such a lovely setting and to be a part of a project that matched my ideals and vision. Dealing with rejection and criticism was one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had as a model. Hearing unfavorable criticism or not being booked for a work might be difficult, but I try to keep focused on my goals and not take it personally.

How has your experience as a yoga instructor informed your modeling style, and vice versa?

“My training as a yoga instructor has undoubtedly influenced my modeling approach, particularly in terms of mindset and energy. Yoga has helped me to be grounded and present, as well as to approach everything with attention and intention.”

“I strive to bring that same sense of present and intention to my modeling work, as well as maintain contact with my inner self and ideals. Modeling has also taught me a lot about confidence, self-expression, and creativity, which I strive to incorporate into my yoga teaching.”

Many people face rejection in modeling career and tehy take it to heart. So, how do you handle rejection in the modeling profession, and what advise do you give for others who are experiencing rejection?

“Absolutely, rejection is a part of life. Dealing with rejection is never easy, but it’s a necessary part of the modeling business. I try not to take rejection personally and to be positive and focused on my goals. It’s critical to realize that not every job or opportunity is a good fit for you, and to keep your options open.“

“My advice to folks who are experiencing rejection is to stay focused on their goals and not lose up on their dreams. It’s equally critical to look after your mental and emotional health, as well as to practice self-love and self-care.”

How do you keep motivated and inspired in your modeling and yoga jobs, and what do you do when you feel tired or uninspired?

“In my modeling and yoga jobs, I keep motivated and inspired by staying connected to my principles and goals, as well as by finding inspiration in the world around me. When I’m feeling tired or uninspired, I make sure to take pauses and prioritize self-care. I might take a yoga class, go for a walk in the woods, or simply take a break from work to recharge.”

In every profession people learn something along the way, could you tell us about a lesson or insight you’ve gained as a model and yoga instructor that has helped you in your personal life?

“My experience as a model and yoga instructor has taught me the value of self-love and self-care. It’s easy to become engrossed in the demands of work and daily life, but taking care of yourself and your well-being is essential for long-term enjoyment and success. In all aspects of my life, I aim to prioritize self-care and self-love, as well as keep connected to my inner self and beliefs.”

How do you strike a balance between your public image and your personal life, and what boundaries do you set to protect your privacy and well-being?

“Balancing my public image and personal life might be difficult at times, but I strive for sincerity and transparency in both. I believe it is critical to be honest and genuine with my audience, rather than presenting a false or highly managed image of myself. At the same time, I’ve set boundaries to preserve my privacy and well-being. I create time for self-care and personal relationships by taking breaks from social media and work.”

How do you aim to make an influence in the world through your modeling and yoga careers, and how do you intend to accomplish so?

“I wish to inspire people to embrace their own unique beauty and style, as well as to question established beauty standards, through my modeling and yoga careers. I also wish to use my platform to promote diversity, inclusivity, and self-love, and to make a positive impact on the world. Working with businesses and organizations that share my beliefs and vision, as well as utilizing my voice to raise awareness about significant social and environmental concerns, is one way I intend to make an effect.”

Could you tell us about a project or collaboration that you’re especially thrilled about, as well as what brought you to it?

“One initiative that has piqued my interest is a cooperation with a sustainable design firm that specializes in apparel made from recycled materials. This project appeals to me because it coincides with my principles and vision, and it allows me to use my platform to promote sustainability and eco-consciousness. I’m thrilled to watch how this idea evolves and to collaborate with other brands and organizations dedicated to making a positive difference in the world.”
