From Military Service to Entrepreneurship: A Journey of Resilience, Tenacity, and 7-Figure Dreams
When life throws you curveballs, it’s not about how hard they’re thrown but how you swing back. I’m Jason Harp, and I’ve experienced my share of curveballs. Today, I want to share my journey from military service to entrepreneurship—a path marked by resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief that brighter days are possible, no matter the challenges.
From Duty to Dream:
My journey began in 2017 when I answered the call to serve my country and joined the Army. Little did I know how this decision would shape the course of my life. Basic training was a transformative experience, marked by challenges and a near-tragic incident that left a lasting impact.
The incident taught me a vital lesson in tenacity. It was during a routine training exercise, five weeks into basic training, that a Drill Instructor suffered an aneurysm, causing a one-ton truck to veer dangerously off course. In those harrowing seconds, lives hung in the balance. My fellow trainees and I narrowly escaped disaster by sheer luck, diving out of the way as the truck crashed behind us. It was a moment that etched determination into my soul—life is unpredictable, but resilience and tenacity could overcome any obstacle.
After Duty Comes Dreams:
After basic training, I continued my military journey as a human resources specialist stationed at USAG Stuttgart in Germany. It was here that I found my purpose, a deep desire to help my fellow service members. But life had other plans for me.
A Turning Point:
In 2019, my life took an unexpected turn. A fellow service member sexually assaulted my wife, causing trauma that led to her reliance on self-medication through marijuana. This situation ultimately led to my discharge from the military, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Navigating the Abyss:
The post-military transition wasn’t easy. My wife and I faced a series of hardships, seeking refuge with family and friends. But as circumstances evolved, we found ourselves at rock bottom—sleeping in our car, with seemingly nowhere else to turn.
Discovering Entrepreneurship:
It was during this challenging period that I gained access to my VA Benefits, opening the door to new possibilities. My entrepreneurial journey began with a vision: to create something meaningful and impactful. Leveraging my experiences and skills acquired during my service, I embarked on the path of entrepreneurship.
The Camper Trailer Office:
Today, I’ve transformed a camper trailer into an office, a symbol of resilience and determination. This space is where I run my business, a venture that holds great significance beyond financial stability. As a service-connected disabled veteran, this endeavor represents not just entrepreneurship but the pursuit of a dream.
Active Ventures: Sentry Printing and Cipher Six Tactical:
In November 2022, I started my dream project, Sentry Printing, where I provide high-quality printing services to businesses and individuals alike. It’s a venture born out of my passion for precision and excellence, attributes I’ve carried from my military service.
And now, in the present month, I’m thrilled to announce my newest venture, Cipher Six Tactical, which I’ve opened to the public. This venture is my latest endeavor, offering tactical gear and equipment to those who need it most. It’s an exciting journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunities it brings.
Lessons Along the Way:
Through every challenge, I’ve learned invaluable lessons. I’ve learned to embrace change, adapt, and persevere. I’ve discovered the importance of a supportive network and the power of resilience and tenacity in the face of adversity.
A Story of Tenacity:
One story that exemplifies tenacity and determination during this journey involves our darkest time when my wife and I had no place to call home. We slept in our car, uncertainty our only constant. But it was precisely during these moments that we harnessed our tenacity.
We reached out to every available resource, tirelessly seeking support. Friends, family, and even strangers became pillars of hope. We navigated the complexities of bureaucracy, ensuring we got the help we needed. It wasn’t easy, but our tenacity paid off.
Conclusion:
My journey from military service to entrepreneurship has been a test of resilience, tenacity, and determination. It’s a testament to the belief that no matter how tough life gets, there’s always a path forward. I hope my story inspires others to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles. Remember, it’s not about how hard life throws those curveballs; it’s about how you swing back.
Thank you for joining me on this journey—a journey fueled by resilience, tenacity, and the unwavering belief that 7-figure dreams are attainable, no matter where you start.
