1. HELLO OMAR, WE’RE EXCITED TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR MEDIA. PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW YOU ENDED UP CHOOSING YOUR FIELD.

I came to this country at only 9 years old with a few dollars in my pocket and the clothes on my back looking for a better future than what I could be offered back home. As I got older and realized school was just not for me, I was hired as a full-time stock clerk at Tom Thumb while also picking up shifts at Walmart doing the same thing. At that point in time, I felt as if I was making a decent amount of money and had no desire to look for more. However, on a trip to fix a flat tire at a small tire shop whom I recently had purchased wheels from, I came across the business owner who then offered me a job with a salary of what I was making with both jobs combined and took it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I put all my hard work and effort until I gained his confidence and was offered the opportunity to partner in. As I grew more into the business and saved money on the side, I bought out my partners at the time and decided to go solo. At only 21 years old I was already managing my own wheel and tire shop which at the time was nearly a fourth of what my shop is today.

2. WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS ALL ABOUT?

Omar’s Wheels and Tires is one of the state’s largest custom wheel and tire shops open to the public and wholesale. My business provides customers with over 5000+ styles of cast aluminum and custom forged wheels for any kind of vehicle including ATVs and UTVs. Every single wheel that is displayed in my showroom is available and ready to be mounted on a new set of tires, which are also fully stocked up. We carry all brands of tires from Toyo, Nitto, Versatyre, Goodyear, and many more. Aside from the product that we sell, my main goal as a business owner is to provide my customers the quality and satisfaction that they deserve at an affordable price. 

3. HOW DO YOU DIFFERENTIATE YOURSELF FROM OTHERS IN YOUR FIELD?

The wheel and tire business is very competitive especially here in Dallas, Texas. What I believe differentiates me from others in this field, is the passion I have in what I do and having the strong determination to be better every day and work hard to improve my business to be able to go beyond my expectations. As a business owner in this field, you have to have the proper knowledge of the products you carry as well as knowing how to build a strong customer relationship that will definitely help you boost customer retention and loyalty rather than just selling just to sell.

4. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE ASKING FOR ADVICE ABOUT BECOMING AN ENTREPRENEUR?

My advice to anyone becoming an entrepreneur is honestly having the determination of getting things done. Opportunities like these are not handed off to you just like that. Becoming an entrepreneur is not an overnight thing. You must be prepared to risk it all and be mentally and physically prepared to go after what you want. I have been in this business for nearly 16 years and up to this day, I have no days off because at the end of the day nobody will ever take care of your business the way you would, and that is what a lot of people in this business do not understand.
